Apple MacBook Neo surprises in teardown with modular ports and battery without glue

The Apple MacBook Neo ($599 on Amazon) has been shipping since Wednesday. A first detailed teardown video from Tech Re-Nu now shows how easy it is to repair the MacBook Neo and what the inner workings of the affordable notebook with iPhone processor look like in detail. To open the aluminum body, only eight screws on the bottom need to be loosened, just like on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
Once inside, most of the components can be replaced by loosening the screws and connectors - fortunately, Apple uses almost no glue on the MacBook Neo. The speakers, the 3.5 mm headphone jack, the WLAN and Bluetooth antennas and even the mainboard can be replaced within a few minutes in the event of a defect, and even the two USB-C ports are modular and not soldered to the mainboard.
The battery is fixed in the body with a total of 18 screws, but Apple does not even use any adhesive for the battery - this not only makes it easier to replace the battery, but also reduces the risk of the battery being damaged when it is removed from the housing. Only the cable that connects the trackpad to the mainboard is glued to the case, but the relatively weak adhesive is not an obstacle to repair. The teardown video does not show how difficult it is to replace the keyboard, but all other components including the display and trackpad can be replaced without any problems, making the MacBook Neo pleasantly easy to repair.
